I’m Rob Curley, a self-taught artist & printmaker based in Brighton, UK.

After many years working in the film and visual effects industry, I began printmaking as a way of getting back to making things by hand. What started as a creative outlet gradually became a much bigger part of my life, and in 2025 I moved into my first dedicated studio space at Farleys House & Gallery in East Sussex.

My practice is still very much developing. I enjoy the physical process of printmaking — drawing, carving, experimenting with inks & papers, the inevitable trial & error involved in getting an image from an idea to a finished print. I’m particularly interested in developing my skills in traditional relief printing techniques while finding ways to bring them into my own work.

Alongside making new prints, I’m currently working towards restoring an 1885 Columbian printing press housed in my studio, with the hope of eventually bringing it back into working use.
